Overview
During the second day (the last part of the Ensuing phase) of Creation Week about 6,000 years ago, God formed the early atmosphere and in the process He formed the first vast expanse of clouds over the planet by separating surface waters.
Genesis 1:6-8 states:
6 Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” 7 Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.

Geology and biology
Just as was the case with the first day, seeing as the planet was still a liquid sphere, there was still no significant geological work accomplished by this time (except perhaps the continuing formation of the core and crust of the Earth). There was also still no life on the planet.
But remember that anytime you look up into the sky, you're looking back in time to the second day when the beautiful atmosphere full of clouds first formed, this atmosphere that is so vital for life to exist upon this planet. |
